To the University of Lethbridge community,

The ULSU General Assembly has decided to de-ratify all Greek Life organizations for the 2021/2022 academic year due to growing concerns surrounding a culture of sexual violence and harassment within Greek Life. This difficult decision is a result of a thorough investigation completed by a third-party Human Resources firm and is intended to be the first step in setting up proactive systems and measures to holistically battle sexual violence and harassment on campus.

Due to the decision to de-ratify Greek Life organizations, please be aware that these organizations do not have the authorization, support, or protections available from the ULSU for any events, including rushing, that they may promote during this academic year.  We will provide a further statement should this status change.

The ULSU does not condone any bullying or harassment that results from this decision and advises students to speak with us or with the Sexual Violence Prevention Educator (https://www.ulethbridge.ca/sexual-violence) to address further concerns stemming from this decision. Together we can make our campus safer for students, and we hope that all students take this opportunity to do their part in making campus a safe and welcoming place.

Yours in solidarity, the 2021/2022 ULSU Executive Council,

Holly Kletke, President
Ryan Lindblad, Vice-President External
Rebecca Parkkari, Vice-President Academic
Mark Serebryansky, Vice-President Operations and Finance
