7 Cups of Tea

Dear Student Leader,

We are rolling out an exciting new peer listening program here at uLethbridge and would like to invite YOU to be a part of it. The program is called 7 Cups of Tea and it is an on-demand emotional health and well-being service where students who want to talk about whatever is on their mind can quickly reach out to a trained, compassionate listener through the network.

People connect with listeners on 7 Cups of Tea for all kinds of reasons, from big existential thoughts to small, day-to-day things that we all experience. Unlike talking to family or friends, a 7 Cups of Tea listener doesn’t judge or try to solve problems. These listeners just listen. They understand. They give you the space you need to help you clear your head.

Sounds great, right? Now here’s where you come in! We are building our own network of listeners here at uLethbridge and you have been identified as someone others may turn to when in need of help. If you choose to sign up as a listener, you will receive training online through 7 Cups of Tea on topics like active listening, empathy, and basic counseling skills. These skills will help you personally and professionally, and enhance your contribution to our campus community.

You’re in complete control over your displayed availability, so you can listen as often as you like. There is no required time commitment or schedule and you will also be able to remain anonymous as a listener. The registration process is very simple:

·         Complete the active listening course
·         Create your listener profile
